How Does the Canadian College of Educators' Online Learning Work?

Online learning is a form of independent study by means of distance education. All online courses have a SIX-MONTH completion deadline from the registration date.

Online learning usually involves a combination of completing journal written tasks, online quizzes pertaining to the sessions and an online instructor who is available to answer questions, encourage discussion on course topics, and provide feedback.

Once registered for an online course, students are provided with a user name, password, and link to get started. The user name and password allows you to log in and log out of the course as you wish. You may work on a course as long, as little, as frequently, or infrequently as you wish. You work from the comfort of your own home or office and at your own pace!

Is Online Learning For Me?
Online learning is an effective way to pursue further education when time, distance, or the added costs of in-class learning pose an obstacle. In many ways online learning can be equally or even more effective. We would recommend to any student interested in one of the online program options to have a look at the sample lesson provided for each program offering to become familiar with the user interface and see first hand what online learning has to offer.

You are more likely to succeed in online courses if you have confidence in yourself as an independent learner, enjoy working alone and spend time on a computer, and can read material for yourself that would normally be discussed in the classroom.

Hardware Requirements and Internet Access
All you need is a computer with an Internet connection and an email address.

*Please note that some "elective" courses for the Certificate in Adult Education require speakers to hear audio/video presentations.
